Waterfront Botanical Gardens
Waterfront Botanical Gardens is located in Louisville in the Butchertown neighborhood at the intersection of River Road and Frankfort Ave. It was started by a community of local gardiners in 1993 to educate the community about the botanical world and is continuing to grow. The Waterfront Botanical Gardens offers general entry to enjoy and view the gardens as well as special events such as Gardens Aglimmer, a beautifully lighted garden for the holidays as well as others throughout the year. BRICK participants and families attending this event for the holidays on the sensory friendly evening with admissions limited to decrease the crowds and without the background music to decrease the noise. It was a pleasant event for all. Pathways in the garden are paved and wide and mostly flat with the exception of one area of the garden that has an incline that may be difficult for some with mobility challenges. Throughout the gardens seating is available to take a break and enjoy the natural beauty of the gardens.
