Waterfront Botanical Gardens is located in Louisville in the Butchertown neighborhood at the intersection of River Road and Frankfort Ave. It was started by a community of local gardiners in 1993 to educate the community about the botanical world and is continuing to grow. The Waterfront Botanical Gardens offers general entry to enjoy and view the gardens as well as special events such as Gardens Aglimmer, a beautifully lighted garden for the holidays as well as others throughout the year. Vernon Lanes is the oldest bowling alley in Kentucky and the 4th oldest in the country and is located in downtown Louisville off Story Ave. It is known for its nostalgia of bowling before machines kept score and having real wood vintage bowling lanes. They offer a full service bar and food. The event space features pool tables, pinball, darts and an arcade. Top Golf is located in Louisville in the St. Mathews area behind the Oxmoor Mall. While reservations are not required, they are suggested especially during peak times to reduce your wait. You can play year round with their all weather hitting bays. BRICK participants agreed that this place is awesome if you like golf and the Angry Birds game. The bathrooms were sanitary, roomy and wheelchair accessible. There are elevators and stairs to access the 2nd and 3rd floors with a bar/restaurant located on each level. Ten Pin Bowling is located in the St. Mathews area of Louisville near both the Oxmoor Mall and the Mall of St. Mathews. It offers several ways to enjoy bowling with family and friends through leagues, open bowling, cosmic bowling and more. Ten Pin also has party rooms for rental and on-site food. BRICK participants suggest bringing a jacket because it is typically cold and the noise level can be high which is frequently anticipated at a bowling alley. The Speed Art Museum is located in downtown Louisville off South 3rd Street near the University of Louisville. It is considered Kentucky’s oldest and largest art museum. The art museum offers permanent art exhibits, various educational programs, immersive art experiences, events and Speed Cinema screenings which typically are not included in the general admission tickets. BRICK participants found the staff to be friendly, helpful and nice. The cafe had a nice variety of food but the gluten free options were limited. Rise Fitness is an adaptive fitness program located in the Middletown area of Louisville. Rise believes that “Movement Belongs to Everyone” and the coaches are wonderful at assisting athletes of all abilities to be successful in their fitness classes. Rise not only promotes fitness but promotes community among their athletes by hosting social events about once a month. Rise offers a variety of adaptive fitness classes with various membership levels after receiving an individualized assessment to determine how to meet individuals where they are for their fitness level.
